  • "It is time," tweeted Anthony Pompliano, a Bitcoin investor and supporter, on Election Day. Who will be the first politician in the United States to take bitcoin as payment?"
  • Francis Suarez, who was re-elected mayor of Miami by a landslide on November 2nd, raised his hand right away. "I'm going to accept my next salary entirely in bitcoin...problem solved!" he said on Twitter.
  • Not to be outdone, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who was elected in a landslide as well, raised the ante on Thursday: "In New York, we always go big, so when I become mayor, I'm going to accept my first THREE paychecks in Bitcoin."
  • "NYC is going to be the heart of the Bitcoin business, as well as other fast-growing, inventive industries!" Adams continued. "Hold your breath!"
  • Adams has already made headlines in the two days after he was elected, when he announced in a post-election interview that he loved Suarez's MiamiCoin and would look into producing a comparable cryptocurrency for New York City.
