Government Free Bitcoin for Salvadorans

El Salvador's president has declared that the government will airdrop Bitcoin (BTC) for $30 to every adult citizens in El Salvador. The Bitcoiners were pleased to reveal that they will be able to distribute more than $100 million in market purchasing pressure by El Salvador's government. The government will have to acquire the needed BTC.

The rapidly searched figures for El Salvador's adult population differed, with Willy Woo online analyst tweeting that Bitcoin's worldwide user base will increase by 2.5 per cent, due to the influx of 4.5 million Salvadorans. 

Others estimated the Salvadoran population of adults as high as 6.5 million (which in actual fact represents the whole population) while Yahoo Finance Anchor Zack Guzman used the figures for preliminary calculations, revealing that Bitcoin's worth of $195 million is spread across the country. Exact data are difficult to discover, however Statista indicates that in 2019 there were 4.72 million people aged 15 and above.

However, the enthusiasm of Crypto Twitter may be little premature, as Prensa Latina informs local publications El Salvador's inhabitants will only get a free Bitcoin once they download a state-issued program for the cryptocurrency wallet.

The announcement was revealed during a press conference on Friday, with President Nayib Bukele saying that the government's "wallet app will even work anyplace with a mobile connection.

President Bukele also said the country's well acclaimed Bitcoin legislation, which recognizes BTC as legal currency, will enter into force nationally on sept. 7.
